This summer more than 100 select Arizona youth participated in unique summer programs at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Opportunities such as the college’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences’ High School Research Internship program and Summer Scrubs provided local adolescents with the chance to work alongside biomedical experts and develop greater interest in pursuing a future career in health care.
“I really enjoyed being in the lab,” said Andrew Ten Elshof, a student from BASIS High School. “It was really cool to be active in the forefront of scientific research.” Taben Hale, PhD, an associate professor at the College and this year’s chairwoman of the high school internship program, said, “I’m incredibly impressed by what the students achieved experimentally.” Read More>>
