AZBio Trailblazer Honorees:

Each year, AZBio looks back across the legislative session to identify those leaders whose actions and active engagement support the growth of Arizona’s life science and healthcare industry and help to ensure the people of Arizona benefit from its success. Scores are then tallied and the top ten legislative leaders are named the year’s Trailblazers.

The Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio) will honor 10 Arizona Legislators on December 9, 2021 for their service to the community and for championing research, education, innovation, the growth of Arizona’s bioscience sector, and for ensuring that Arizona patients benefit from life science innovation. The honorees are recognized by the leaders of Arizona’s bioscience and healthcare community at the 2021 AZBio Trailblazer Awards during a special appreciation luncheon for members, elected officials and legislators.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 event was held on Zoom. In 2021, we return to celebrate our 2020 and 2021 honorees together at the Phoenix Country Club:

Economist Jim Rounds and AZBio President & CEO Joan Koerber-Walker will discuss:

Jim Rounds, President, Rounds Consulting
Mr. Rounds regularly provides advice to policymakers at the State Capitol, mayors throughout the state as well as city council members, county board members, and other public and private sector leaders in the community. Jim has delivered hundreds of economic presentations throughout Arizona and is quoted weekly on television, radio, and in printed media.

Mr. Rounds began his career as a Senior Economist and Senior Budget Analyst with the Arizona Joint Legislative Budget Committee, and has been engaged in policy related economics for more than two decades. Mr. Rounds is a Senior Fellow at the Goldwater Institute; a board member of the Maricopa County IDA; and advisor to Helios Education Foundation, Achieve 60 AZ, the Rodel Foundation, and the Arizona Board of Regents, among others. Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Economics from Arizona State University.
