The value in diversity of thought, expertise, approach, personal experience, and background is embedded in the fabric of BIO5, and it is our aim to foster an inclusive, open-minded, and supportive environment. In an effort to discuss the deliberate design of this culture, we will host a quarterly event called BIO5 Ignites Science event beginning this fall with a moderated, interactive table discussion between some of our inspiring scientists. The topic will be about Diverse Backgrounds and Thinking in STEM.

The BIO5 Institute harnesses the power of diversity and inclusivity to ignite scientific discovery and innovation and prepare students for leading, living, and working in a diverse world.
BIO5 Ignites Science is an ongoing event series in a moderated, interactive table conversation format about how the value in diversity of thought, values, expertise, culture, approach, personal experience, disciplines, and background is embedded in the DNA of BIO5, and how we foster an inclusive, open-minded, and supportive environment.
The event series is open to the public and university community, including faculty, staff, students, lab personnel, and other campus partners.
