Barbara Kavanagh, MSW, LCSW, the CEO of Arizona Myeloma Network, AzMN, Co-founded 501c3 cancer charity with her husband, in 2004, to help other cancer patients and caregivers like them!  Her husband, Jack, had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 1991, just a month before their marriage in 1991. Very little was known about this rare form of blood cancer and there were very few options for treatment. When he retired from his job, they moved to Arizona so that he could receive the specialized treatment that was available at Mayo Clinic’s myeloma/blood cancer department. Barbara was asked to help the Director of this department, Dr. Rafael Fonseca, and Jeff Trent, CEO of TGen, a prominent Research organization put on a Myeloma Symposium. It was so popular, that they continued to hold Annual Living with Myeloma Conferences and Research Roundtables until 2020 when the COVID Pandemic Lockdown occurred.
