The Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio) today announced that Nasseo, Inc. has been selected to receive a 2013 AZBio Fast Lane Award from the Arizona Bioindustry Association in recognition for its efforts to create a next generation of dental and orthopedic implant products. NASSEO will be honored by bioindustry leaders at the Phoenix Convention Center during the 2013 AZBio Awards on October 10, 2013.
The AZBio Fast Lane Award recognizes the select few companies that have achieved outstanding milestones in the past 18 months. Significant progress can be measured by clinical results, regulatory approvals, certifications, collaborations, funding awards, product launches, job growth or product sales milestones.
“NASSEO co-founders Dr. Garrett Cale Smith (a Stanford BioDesign Fellow) and Kayvon Pourmirzaie, JD have a lot to smile about. With the experience built through three prior startups between them, a growing patent portfolio and a winning biotechnology platform, they are making great progress,” shared AZBio president and CEO Joan Koerber-Walker. “From product design to funding next steps, NASSEO is speeding up and moving into the Fast Lane.”
Nasseo, Inc. is a start-up medical device company developing an implant surface modification technology to provide patients and clinicians with the next generation of dental and orthopedic implants. Over the past 18 months the company has achieved very impressive milestones and is in the Fast Lane to delivering a new platform technology that benefits patients in several compelling markets.
In 2013 NASSEO was accepted into the BioInspire Medical Device accelerator in Peoria, AZ. Further, the company won UCSD CONNECT’s Life Sciences Capital Competition. In 2012, NASSEO was invited to showcase its work at the 2012 World’s Best Technology (WBT) Innovation Marketplace and the 2013 National Innovation Showcase. The company is well on its way to securing a Series A investment round in the Fall of 2013 and recently received a positive first response from the FDA paving the way for FDA clearance by the end of 2013. In addition to the TiArray™ Dental Implant, NASSEO is developing a spinal implant that integrates NASSEO’s same core implant surface modification technology. With guidance from industry thought leaders from around the world and under leadership of its CEO, Garrett Cale Smith, (Stanford BioDesign Fellow) NASSEO is poised for success.
NASSEO is one of seven Arizona Companies selected to present at the Rocky Mountain Life Science Investor and Partnering Conference this coming September in Denver to some of the industry’s leading venture capital firms.
