Arizona Commerce Authority Announces Finalists For The 2024 Arizona Innovation Challenge

PHOENIX, AZ (November 13, 2024) — The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) announced today 15 finalists have been selected for the 2024 Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC). The finalists will advance to the final round of the competition, after which judges will select up to 10 companies as AIC awardees for 2024.

The AIC is designed to advance innovation and technology commercialization opportunities in Arizona by helping early-stage ventures scale. 2023 AIC Awardees include AlgoFace, a growing AI facial analysis startup, Homer Farms, a clean tech startup, and Macula Vision Systems, a bioscience startup.

“The 2024 AIC finalists represent exciting startups developing and scaling new innovations,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “This year’s finalists showcase Arizona’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and furthers our reputation as a premier destination for innovation. Congratulations to this year’s finalists for advancing to the final round of the competition.”

The AIC consists of three judging rounds, during which companies receive constructive feedback on their applications generated from the rigorous online evaluation and scoring process. The 15 finalists will pitch their startups in-person before a panel of investors on November 20.

The judges will choose up to 10 companies as AIC awardees for 2024 in early December. After all judging rounds are complete, participants will have an opportunity to receive a consultation with the ACA to discuss their application and other potential resources available to help improve their business plans.

The 2024 AIC Awardees will participate in Venture Scale, Arizona’s flagship accelerator program for the state’s most promising startups. Venture Scale will connect the Awardees with serial entrepreneurs, high-level executives, and subject matter experts.

Finalists and Semifinalists who do not become AIC Awardees will be invited to participate in Venture Raise, a 12-week accelerator that focuses on funding options, investor pitching, startup financial health, and more.
