2012 Leadership Team supports AZBio in providing access to the key resources, connections, and information that support AZBio Members’ ability to Connect, Collaborate, Innovate and Succeed thus supporting the growth of a thriving economic ecosystem for Arizona’s Bioscience Industry.
Arizona – January 30, 2012
AZBio, The Arizona BioIndustry Association, today announced its 2012 leadership team and key programs for Arizona’s centennial year.
“Our community is honored to have the support of these committed leaders” shared Glen Galster, co-founder of Algae Biosciences Incorporated and AZBio Board Chairman. “They represent leading companies and institutions from across our state and across our industry. Together we will continue to support Arizona bioscience industry growth and the companies and organizations that are making it happen.”
The Arizona bioscience industry covers a broad spectrum from leading research institutions, to innovative companies, best in class research universities, and the companies that support them.
Across the state, new technologies are being developed, are being delivered, and gaining national recognition in the fields of agriculture, green energy, and healthcare . Supporting these companies as they continue to gain momentum is AZBio’s role.
From convening the community at educational events on a regional basis, recognizing excellence with statewide technology expositions and awards as well as serving as an information resource partner for legislators, the media, partner organizations and economic developers, AZBio is the nexus that connects this growing sector.
“In 2012, AZBio will continue its support of Arizona’s bioscience industry growth with visits to leaders in Washington, D.C. in April, the 2012 AZBio Expo in May, partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority to present the Arizona bioindustry to the world in the Arizona Pavilion at the BIO International Convention in Boston in June, shine a spotlight on Arizona’s leading companies, researchers, and educators in September, and recognize our state’s Legislative Trailblazers in December. In between, we will be spreading the word and keeping our community in the loop with the latest news and information about what’s hot in the Arizona Biosciences,” shared Joan Koerber-Walker, AZBio president and CEO. “These activities create opportunity for companies from across the state to get connected, to create partnerships, and to move forward faster. Arizona’s bioscience industry is more than just science. It’s about cures for our healthcare challenges, increasing food production to address the world hunger crisis, and finding new clean energy sources from bio-based materials. These lead to new industries, high paying jobs, and a better tomorrow not just here in Arizona, but across the world.”
