Dignity Health St. Joseph’s adopts innovative app to keep patients, medical staff and caregivers connected during COVID-19 pandemic

App  from Medical Memory is a virtual solution to hospital visitor restrictions.
(PHOENIX, Ariz. – March 27, 2020) – Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is using an innovative mobile application to keep the caregivers of patients connected with their loved ones medical team during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, the hospital introduced visitor restrictions to keep patients and staff members safe and healthy. The Medical Memory app is a virtual solution to these visitor restrictions to ensure family members and caregivers remain engaged in their loved one’s medical care while they are in the hospital.

Medical Memory is a HIPAA compliant mobile application that allows health care providers to record medical-related conversations with patients that can then be shared with their support system outside of the hospital walls. St. Joseph’s is currently using Medical Memory in most of the inpatient settings and will adopt the mobile app house-wide soon.

“The Medical Memory mobile app is a game-changer because it ensures patients and their loved ones are hearing the same message no matter where they are in the world,” said Virginia Prendergast, senior director of advanced practice nursing at St. Joseph’s Barrow Neurological Institute.

Dignity Health in Arizona recognizes the importance of involving family and friends in a patient’s health care journey. By adopting the Medical Memory mobile application hospital-wide, St. Joseph’s is bridging the physical gap between patients and their loved ones while temporary visitor restrictions are in place due to COVID-19. Through the Medical Memory mobile application, the goal is to provide patients and their support system a comprehensive understanding of their medical status while receiving care at St. Joseph’s.
