Chandler, Arizona —-The Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio) will honor GlobalMed® as the Arizona Bioscience Company of the Year at the 2016 AZBio Awards on September 21, 2016. Hundreds of Arizona life science and business leaders as well as guests from across the country will be on hand at the Phoenix Convention Center to recognize GlobalMed for the many ways that the team, the company and their technology are making life better for people here in Arizona and around the world.
“How can we best provide access to the high quality healthcare people deserve and deliver it in a way that patients and society can afford? GlobalMed is helping companies, healthcare systems and governments answer this question,” stated Joan Koerber-Walker, President and CEO of AZBio. “By providing telemedicine technology and support to partners across the healthcare ecosystem, locally and globally, they are helping to create and maintain this critical healthcare balance and making life better for both the patients that need available and affordable care and the institutions that provide it.”
Medical Care: Here, There, and Everywhere
Telemedicine provides access to care for people where and when they need it most by enabling medical consultations between healthcare professionals, facilitating patient visits, and bringing together specialists and specialties that may be a few miles away or even on the other side of the world.
“What we’ve done at GlobalMed, and what we’ve tried to do from the start, is listen to our customers, the clinicians,” Joel E. Barthelemy, President and CEO of Arizona-based GlobalMed said. “And we use their feedback to design telemedicine systems that can fit seamlessly into their workflow, requiring fewer steps, so they can focus on their patients.”
“Quality, timely care for all.”
GlobalMed is the worldwide leader in healthcare delivery systems. Founded in 2002, the company’s mission is to transform healthcare delivery systems that improve access and quality of care while eliminating unnecessary costs. Simply stated, the company vision is “quality, timely care for all”.
GlobalMed solutions are deployed in more than 55 countries, enabling healthcare providers around the world to conduct more than 3.5 million telehealth visits with patients annually. Partnering with medical groups, healthcare enterprises and government agencies in the U.S. and abroad has led to the company’s unparalleled expertise in designing sustainable, integrated connected health programs. The GlobalMed ecosystem gives healthcare providers the ability to view critical patient data anywhere, on almost any device via internet access, allowing real-time patient assessment and collaboration for best-in-class patient care.
Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, GlobalMed has been developing telemedicine technologies to help healthcare providers enhance patient care. Today, as a global leader in the design, delivery and support of the medical technology that enables telehealth solutions, GlobalMed offers a variety of telemedicine products including cameras, peripherals, scopes, software, mobile medical stations and cloud connectivity. GlobalMed’s integrated solutions (Including: telemedicine stations, examination cameras, connected medical devices and software) allow for dynamic collaboration of healthcare professionals at remote locations by providing real time or store-and-forward of both visible and non-visible light images (viewable on any web-enabled device), high definition video and an underlying interface that allows the clinician to capture pertinent data.
Being named Arizona Bioscience Company of the Year is an honor bestowed on the for-profit bioscience company whose Arizona-based operations did the most to transform the world during the last 12 months. In 2016, this honor goes to GlobalMed.
How GlobalMed is Transforming the World:
- GlobalMed has set up a telemedicine base in Africa in an effort to impact the growing health problems on that continent. The company provides telemedicine solutions on all seven continents, either through a reseller or partner in 55 countries. But Africa is first to receive a GlobalMed base through a new partnership with The Mbaoua Group in Cote d’Ivoire to oversee opportunities and deployments in Africa.
- On the battlefield, expert care and consults can make the difference between life and death. GlobalMed works with military operations and security agencies in the U.S. and around the world to support the care of soldiers and marines on land and sailors at sea.
- People living in Rural Communities often must travel to urban centers to access specialty care. GlobalMed’s systems provide the ability for medical professionals in rural health centers to bring in specialty consults via their telehealth systems, even in ICU centers.
For all these reasons and more, GlobalMed is the 2016 Arizona Bioscience Company of the Year.
“It is an honor to receive this award, especially with the growing number and quality of bioscience firms that are here in Arizona,” Barthelemy said. “This award goes to the team at GlobalMed for their hard work as well as to our Board of Directors for making it possible for us to be considered.”
GlobalMed will be honored during the 11th Annual AZBio Awards at the Phoenix Convention Center on September 21, 2016, in front of an audience of local, national, and international leaders.
