Dr. Michael E. Berens of TGen for Leadership

Michael E. Berens, PhD, Professor; Deputy Director for Research Resources; and Director of the Cancer and Cell Biology Division at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is the Jon W. McGarity Arizona Bioscience Leader of the Year. Dr. Berens will be honored by Arizona’s bioscience and business communities for his leadership and his contributions to building the coalitions that have shaped the state’s life science industry at the 2018 AZBio Awards on October 3, 2018.

UA Researchers to Study, Test Potential Drug Candidates for Deadly Lung Disease

A $4.4 million grant from the Department of Defense will help researchers test two drug candidates for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a deadly disease with no cure.

$2.5M Grant to UA Nursing Professor to Ease Cancer Patients’ and Caregivers’ Psychological Distress

The four-year National Cancer Institute grant will enable Terry A. Badger, PhD, to study a precision approach to decreasing psychological distress in both cancer patients and their family caregivers during treatment.
