Why University Research Has a Brighter Future in Arizona

The Arizona Legislature has voted to approve a plan to invest

 $1 Billion in Arizona’s University Research Infrastructure. 
 

A Bit About Budgets – 

News from Washington DC to Washington Street 

Last week was a busy week on the Budget Front as President Trump signed  a $1 Trillion spending package that funds the federal government through the end of September and the Arizona Legislature sent its $9.8 Billion Budget Packet to Governor Ducey.  Both spending plans send a strong message that research matters. 

Call to Action:   Angel Investor Tax Credit  

On June 16, 2015, the ACA certified an allotment of tax credits that caused the $20 million Angel tax credit “cap,” originally instituted in 2006, to become fully subscribed. Accordingly, the ACA is presently unable to certify further investments for Angel tax credits. HB2191 would authorize the ACA to approve an additional $2.5 million in Angel Investor Tax Credits in FY 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.  We expect the legislature to adjourn sine die this week.  Please call or email your legislators today.  Let them know that you live in their district and and ask them to support innovation in and investment in Arizona by supporting HB2191.  If you choose to call, feel free to share your message with staff or leave a voice message.     Find My Legislators
