Three Arizona Life Science Companies Move into the Fast Lane

Each year the Arizona Bioindustry Association, Inc. shines a spotlight on three Arizona life science companies that have achieved outstanding milestones in the past 18 months.  In 2024, Nectero Medical, Inc., PriZm Therapeutics, and The Patient Company are being honored with AZBio Fast Lane Awards on September 18, 2024 at the 20th annual AZBio Awards.

AZBio Fast Lane Companies are independently judged by a panel of life science leaders and evaluated for their significant progress measured by clinical results, regulatory approvals, certifications, collaborations, funding awards, product launches, job growth or product sales milestones.

Congratulations to the 2024 AZBio Fast Lane Honorees

Nectero Medical is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering novel therapies to treat aneurysmal disease based in Tempe, Arizona. The company is developing the Nectero EAST® System.  This investigational, single-use, endovascular system delivers pentagalloyl glucose (PGG) locally into the aneurysmal wall, where it binds to elastin and collagen to potentially strengthen the aortic vessel wall and possibly reduce further degradation. The procedure is typically performed under conscious sedation and takes less than an hour to complete, leaving no permanent implant behind.

PriZm Therapeutics is a clinical stage rare disease company based in Chandler Arizona. PriZm is focused on developing cure for MCT8 deficiency (also known as Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome). This devastating and rare disease effects infants and young children into adulthood leaving them with severe neurocognitive disability including the inability to walk, talk and care for themselves. PriZm’s lead asset SRW101, is a small molecule, oral thyroid hormone analog in clinical trials.

The Patient Company has progressed from development to delivery and is now a commercial stage company.  The Patient Company’s lead product, the SimPull, uses a powered winch and pull bar to facilitate the smooth movement and repositioning of patients in clinical settings. It’s designed to reduce the number of clinicians, nurses, and other staff traditionally required to reposition or transfer patients. Over 10,000 healthcare workers are injured each year when making patient transfers.  SimPull is designed to make this process safer for healthcare workers and also to improve the experience of the patient.
